We are looking for Chefs of all levels, Sous Chef, Chef de Partie and Apprentice Chef to keep up the standard of cooking that owner and chef James Donoghue has consistently maintained.
We are looking for someone who can work with fresh ingredients in creating exciting "traditional" dishes and in contributing in further developing our range of dishes on offer. The successful candidate should have a demonstrable record of being able to work in a busy kitchen. You should be a self-starter and self-motivating in achieving your goals. In return we offer a competitive package both financially and in terms of future development with the potential to progress. This position is open to candidates looking for their first role as a Sous chef.
Chef de Partie
We are an AA rosette accredited country style pub which offers unpretentious country dining,using local produce to create our regularly changing menu, with a wholesome and creative specials board. We are looking for a talented, hardworking and standards driven Chef de Partie to join our brigade. We can offer you excellent training and development opportunities and the chance to work in a quality establishment that will enhance your CV. It is essential that applicants have experience in similar quality establishments.
We would like to appoint a Chef de Partie who has flair and ambition and is competent in all sections of the kitchen.

We are a small but vibrant country pub located in the village of Gestingthorpe between the market towns of Halstead and Sudbury, run by husband and wife team, James & Diana Donoghue. We serve freshly prepared produce, some grown by ourselves in our 1 acre kitchen garden, so seasonal ingredients are a must. We also have our own smokehouse and can provide fantastic smoked fish to put on the menu.
Our food is honest and simply cooked and offers good quality ingredients from superb local producers within 10 miles, we also look for quality produce above all - such as our Salmon from Westeross on the west coast of Scotland.
